Yellowstone

In 1983 on our first vacation (other than our honeymoon) we went West to Yellowstone National Park.  We took the trip in our 1974 Chevy Blazer, no A/C, no cruise control, and no real experience in traveling across the nation.  Our cameras at that point in time were a Canon TX and a Canon AE1 Program, both 35mm SLR's.  Maybe some day I'll dig up the negatives and convert them to digital to share with you.

Yellowstone captured our hearts as one of the most beautiful places in existence and since that trip in 1983 we've been back two more times.  These pictures are from 2007, our latest trip to this great national park where there are unlimited photo opportunities.

These photos were taken with my first real digital SLR, my Canon Rebel XT and my old Tamron lenses that I had with my Canon EOS Elan.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I encountered a piece of dust on the mirror of my camera and it took me way too long to figure it out.  You'll see it in several of the photos at the top, middle.  I may be a slow learner but lesson learned on this one.

Enjoy!

Feast of the Fields

In just a little under a month I get to go to dinner at one of my favorite places ever!!  Last year my wife surprised me for my birthday with a dinner experience that would change the way I think about eating a gourmet meal.  She gave me driving directions but wouldn't share the surprise till we pulled into the drive of a farm located along the Kansas River near Manhattan.  At that point she explained that we would be eating in a corn field and it was such a great experience that we went back for the fall barn edition and then again for the summer addition this year.

This unique experience offers a selection of appetizers accompanied by a selection of Kansas wines followed by a gourmet meal from a local chef and made with Kansas grown products.

I hope you can get a sense of the creativity, fun, and elegance that is Feast of the Fields in the photos below.

Wrightsville Beach - Wilmington, NC

The final two days of this years vacation took us to the Wilmington, NC area specifically to see Wrightsville Beach.  Beautiful weather combined once again with a great setting to create some great photo opportunities.

All shots were taken with my Canon Rebel T4i and my Tamron 18-270 lens or Tamron 17-50 2.8 lens, edited with Picasa.
