Canyonlands National Park

On one of our trips out west we ended up in the Moab, UT area and there's lots to see and do. We chose to visit the Arches National Park which I'll share in future post.  We also took a short trip to the north end of Canyonlands National Park.  While we were there a storm came through and the rain create chocolate waterfalls and photo opportunities that I've never seen before.

All photos were taken with my Canon Rebel XT and a combination of my old Tamron 18-70 and 28-200 EF lenses.

Enjoy!

Lassen Volcanic National Park

One of the advantages of traveling by vehicle rather than by air is the opportunity you have to take in the scenery along the route to your destination.  In 2006 our trip to the Redwood National Forest also included a brief stop in Lassen Volcanic National Park in the north central part of California.  It was a beautiful drive and much to our amazement there was still snow on the ground in the middle of July.

The pictures from this trip were taken with my Kodak P850 Digital Camera.  This was one of those trips where I realized how much I missed my SLR functionality.

San Antonio

In late January 2012, I traveled to San Antonio on business and my wife was able to join me on the trip.  While I attended conference sessions, she would tour the city enjoying the rich history of the area.  In the evenings I would get go along and on our final day in San Antonio we were able to take in one of the missions.  Between the river walk, the Alamo, and the other missions, San Antonio offers a wonderful chance to learn about Texas history while surrounded with some great photo opportunities.

Chicago

Last year we decided to visit Chicago for our family vacation.  If you'd asked me earlier in my life to travel to a city for a vacation I would have said no way.  I'm not big on crowds and the hectic pace and really think I'd much rather see the natural wonders across the country but that is changing.  The downtown area of Chicago had so much to offer and the photo ops were unlimited.

The photos in this post were taken with my Canon T1i and my Tamron 28-270.  I did some effect editing in Picasa as some of these just seemed to ask for it.
